Route 5 Oxford to Bangor andHolyhead, North Wales
National Cycle Network Route 5 Is coming to Hednesford, from Stafford in the North,across Cannock Chase, and from the South and East, Chasewater, Lichfield and Walsall.
I t is hoped to sign an interim route followed by annual upgrades.
From Chase Water continue North along Burntwood bypass to the new island at Ironstone road. (Café, Bradshaw's Farm, 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. Closed Sundays)
Then across Bleak house to Prospect village, Rawnsley and down to Hednesford. Hopefully utilizing the old mineral railway track bed, down to the main Hednesford/Rugeley road. (Planning consent obtained by sustrans).
Cross main road at the toucan traffic control lights then turn right, and follow the "Chase Heritage Trail" up to Marquis drive visitor centre.
The cycle route here is part of "the Chase Heritage trail", Cannock to Rugeley.
