Start by riding

around

Chase Water Country Park,

 cycle route.

It’s very important to start cycling gradually over a period of several weeks. Don’t expect your body to perform miracles

from day one, it takes time to build your self up, both mentally and physical.

The rewards are well worth going through the “fitness barrier”  to reach a new more healthy world.

You will need to cycle at least once every week to stay fit.

After riding around Chase Water Country Park a

few times, you should be ready for National cycle Network “Route 5” to Pelsall and Walsall nearly

all traffic free.

Or along quiet country lanes of route 5 to Beacon Park Lichfield, enjoy a break in Beacon Park

Now your ready for “A Day Out”

Start by riding up to Castle Ring, get used to the hills.

(Please don't ride around castle ring).

When your happy climbing to the ring, your ready to

venture into “Cannock Chase”.

Down Telegraph hill, and on to Brindley Heath Pumping

station / Railway crossing for  “Kit bag Hill”.

With practice you can look forward to enjoying

Kit Bag Hill, Sherbrook valley, Milford, Shugborough Park, Great Haywood Packhorse Bridge, along the

canal to little Haywood, then Seven springs, and

back home through the Chase. Follow the Chase cycle circuit, well signed, easy to follow.

What more variety could you ask for, on your

door step, without the need for the car.

Total Freedom

Go on, try it for yourself

between Chasewater Dam and Aldridge.

Your Canal Permit.   click

From the Dam, follow NCN route 5 towards Brownhills, but at Burntwood road bridge stay on canal to Ogley Junction. (nr Grasmere gardens.

Turn right over Iron foot bridge and continue to Anchor bridge and Cats Hill Junction.

Here you can turn left for Walsall Wood, Aldridge, and through to Gas Street Basin, Birmingham. (2hrs)

Turning right will take you to Brownhills, (take care over green foot bridge), or continue to rejoin the National Cycle Network route 5, for Pelsall and Walsall or continue along the canal to Wolverhampton.

Enjoy your ride through the

beautiful countryside. Leave no trace that you

 ever passed by.
